He was the son of the late Christ J. Kraras and Ypapanti (Contos) Kraras. Elias was the husband of Helen (Sotiropoulos), who passed away five years ago.
He was born and raised in the village of Terpsithea, Greece, and spent most of his life in the cities of Patras and Athens, Greece. He did spend a ten-year period of his life in Reading, PA, where he worked for Oritsky's Factory and restaurants in Wildwood, NJ, with his brothers.
He is survived by his son, Christ E. Kraras, husband of Nana (Seriatis), and Patricia (Kraras) Tsitouris, wife of John Tsitouris. He is survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by one brother, Gust C. Kraras, of Reading, PA, and was predeceased by four other siblings: John Kraras of Reading, Vasiliki Baros of Patras, Greece, Eleni Triantis of Athens, and Maria Kraras of New York City.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews in the United States and Greece.
In his youth, he served in the Army of Greece as a member of the Honor Guard and Palace Guard, known as Evzones.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 28, in his hometown of Terpsithea, Greece.

I am very sorry for your loss. I, like many of your former students, never had the privilege of meeting your father, but remember the periodic kind comments you made about him when discussing your business.
