Ellen Gail Gohacki

Ellen Gail Gohacki, 74, of Cumru Township, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Berks Heim. She was the beloved wife of 52 years of the late Wayne Charles Gohacki, who passed away on November 10, 2021. Born in Dover, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Philip and Dr. Harriet (Zucker) Borkow. Ellen received her Bachelors of Arts in History from Hood College, Frederick Maryland in 1969. She began her career teaching junior high and high school History first in Western Pennsylvania and then locally at Wilson and Wyomissing school districts and later became a licensed Real Estate Agent at multiple local agencies, retiring with Re/Max of Reading. Ellen had a wide variety of outside interests, including reading, hiking, and enjoying music, particularly oldies. She prided herself on her volunteer work with the League of Women Voters, acting as a Eucharistic Minister at the Church of St. Benedict in Mohnton, and in placing foreign exchange students with local host families. A devoted equestrian and animal lover, she enjoyed riding and tending to horses at Bran Manor Horse Rescue and spending time with her dog Spot. Ellen is survived by her devoted sons, Geoffrey P. Gohacki, husband of Vanessa J, Anton, of Puerto Rico; Michael C. Gohacki, husband of Melissa Orr, of West Chester; Brian W. Gohacki, of Reading; beloved grandchildren, Miro and Emmett Gohacki, as well as another expected this October; sister-in-law, Mary Borkow, of Johnstown, PA; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Dr. Joel E. Borkow, of Johnstown. A Memorial Service will be held at the Bean Funeral Home, 129 E. Lancaster Ave. Shillington, PA 19607 on Monday, September 26, 2022 at 11:00am. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home from 9:00am-11:00am. Interment will occur on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at Jefferson Memorial Cemetery 401 Curry Road Pittsburgh, PA 15236 at 12:00pm.
