She was the wife of the late Kurt K. Werner, who died in 1996. Born Else Maria Schumann on November 9, 1928 in Heldburg, Thuringen,
Germany, and immigrated to America in 1958.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Reading, and the Reading
Liederkranz. Proud of her heritage, Elsie enjoyed cooking German food, German dancing and singing.
She will be lovingly missed by her two children, Joachim W. Werner and
Erika B., married to Jack
Richards, and a granddaughter, Kristen M. Richards, all of Lancaster. Also surviving are three siblings, Gertrude, Georg and Barbel, all in
Germany.
