Mrs. Biehl was born in Reading and graduated from Muhlenberg High School in 1935 and the Reading School of Business in 1937. She moved to New Jersey in 1957, where she resided in Nutley, Montville, Bridgewater and Cedar Knolls. She also lived for 10 years in Mattapoisette, Mass.
Estelle was active within the Democratic Party in Reading. She was the first woman elected to the Berks County Prison Board in 1956. She was also a Democratic committeewoman in Nutley.
She was a master bridge player and a member of bridge clubs in Nutley, Bridgewater and Mountain Lakes, N.J., as well as in Mattapoisette. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Mrs. Biehl was a loving mother, wife, daughter and sister.
She is survived by two daughters, Gayle Kelchner Jacobs, Glen Mills, Pa.; and K. Rebecca "Becky" Hutcherson, wife of Thomas, Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.; and a son, E. Thomas Biehl Jr., husband of Susan, Cedar Knolls.
Other survivors include two brothers, John Rodney Shipe, Florida; and Wm. { ok } Barry Shipe, Pennsylvania; and a sister, Rose Shipe Ney, Pennsylvania.
There are also nine grandchildren: Stuart and Scott Steele; Thomas, Jessica and Christopher Hutcherson; Barrett, Stepahnie, Cassandra and Alexandra Biehl; and five great-grandchildren: Collin, Devon and Matthew Steele; and Zoe and Madison Hutcherson.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Norman "Buddy" Kelchner; and her devoted second husband of 47 years, Edwin T. Biehl Sr.; and seven brothers and sisters; and her granddaughter, Victoria Biehl.
Services will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Bradley-Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Road, Whippany, N.J. Burial will follow immediately at Restland Memorial, East Hanover, N.J. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
