Faye I. Murphy

Faye I. (Unger) Murphy, 82, New Berlinville, died Sept. 19, 2008, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown.

She was the widow of Martin M. Murphy.

Born in Boyertown, she was a daughter of the late Daniel H. and Jennie M. (Bartron) Unger.

Many years ago, Mrs. Murphy was owner of Hill Crest School of Riding, Boyertown, and later owner of Faye's Colonial Kitchen, Boyertown. For many years, she also served as treasurer of D.H. Unger Fruit Farms, Boyertown.

She was a graduate of Sullins College, Bristol, Va., and also attended both Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill., and Parsons School of Design, New York City.

In addition to her family, she loved and enjoyed baking, antiques and her pets.

Surviving is a son, Michael A. Murphy, and wife, Cleo, Pooler, Ga.; and two daughters, Maureen D. Murphy, North Wales; and Patricia M. Murphy, Boyertown.

Other survivors include a sister, Audrey Ferguson, North East, Md.

There are also two grandchildren, Bridgit Ann Murphy and Jennie Marie Murphy.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Daniel D. Unger and George B. Unger; and a sister, Nancy Christ.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at noon in Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 1020 E. Philadelphia Ave., Gilbertsville. Burial will be private in Fairview Cemetery, Boyertown. Friends may call Wednesday 11 a.m. to noon in the funeral home.
