George Gantert Obituary

George Gantert, 88, husband of Mary Ann, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2018, at Fairlane Gardens in Exeter, Pa.

George and Mary Ann (Mullin) had been married for 67 years. Born in Phoenixville, Pa., on September 10, 1930, George was the son of the late Armand and Gertrude (Huls) Gantert. At the age of 19, George proudly joined and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. After service George returned to the area and settled in Pottstown with Mary Ann. George was self-employed for 50 years, most recently as owner-operator of Gantert and Sons Autobody, first of Limerick then moving to Pottstown. George and Mary Ann relocated to the Reading area in 2001 and George retired shortly thereafter.

George was predeceased by his daughter, Michelle M. Bowman; and a brother, Robert.

George is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Ann; his sons: George M., of Jacksonwald, Dennis J., of Pottstown, David G., of Fleetwood, and Stephen P., of Dayton, Ohio. George will be missed by his 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. George also leaves behind his sisters, Jane Guhl and Betty Stahl.

A private gathering of family and friends is planned.
