Gregory Jarvis Obituary

Gregory L. Jarvis, 34, Maidencreek Township, passed away Sept. 7, 2009, in Philadelphia.

He was the husband of Veronica Montes.

Born in the U.S. Virgin Islands, he was the son of John G. and Hortencia (Parris) Jarvis of Reading.

He was employed as a Black Purl Entertainment artist, traveling all over.

He is also survived by a daughter, Makailah V. Jarvis, and a son, Gregory L. Jarvis Jr., both at home.

There are four brothers: Ernest Parris, Andres Jarvis, Dylon Tong and Shawn Jarvis.

There are three sisters: Jacqueline Connor, Lorelley Jarvis and Renarda Parris.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Gallman-Sonoski Funeral Home Inc., Temple. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may pay their condolences on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. and Monday from 9 to 10 a.m.

He was in high school together he was very friendly very nice I hadn't seen him since right after high schoolI hadn't seen him since right after high school until we were about 30 years old maybe 31 I'm not sure but we spoke for hours outside the DMV when we ran into each other about what we had been doing since we had lasted saw one another. In that I realized that he felt the same way I always felt about him we spoke for at least an hour while both having other things to do he told me about his visit with Def Jam I was excited for him I had always loved him since high school and it was so nice to see him doing well I'm going to miss you you were going too early. I could sit here typing all day and not find the right words to say in this situation...because nothing could express my depth of respect for this man. He brought a positive energy to both me and my coworkers, and was never too busy to talk to a small fry like me. It's hard to understand why such a benevolent human being would be taken away from his family like this.

I'm so so sorry for your loss, for once in my life I'm speechless! You, the kids, and the family are in my heart & prayers. Just know that everyday will get a little bit better, and find the strengh to be the mother your children are gonna need now more than ever. Greg is now your guardian angel, and will always be with you and the kids. It's so crazy how things happen because I remember not to long ago you and I were in the salon picking out our wedding colors, looking at bridal magazines together. We laughed because we both wanted the same color coral as our main color. Life is so unpredictable, we need to love everyone like it's the last time will see them! Your passing is unbelievably devastating and painful. You were and always will be considered one of the most genuine, real, and passionate men I came across in my lifetime. Let me start by saying "why did you forget your prom dress"? This is an inside joke that only Greg, Tania, and myself will understand.

I really don't know where to start. We have been bestfriends since 7th grade which is a long long time ago. I remember when I lived with Angie on 16-1/2 street in Reading and we use to sneek you in the house when Angie's father was not home. That was truly awesome and unforgettable times. You were always the big brother that I never had, you would always defend me from guys that were being jerks and I will never forget that! When you were away for a bit I always use to think about you and never did forget. It was cool knowing that our friendship picked up where we left off and felt like no time had passed by. That is a true friend.

I will never forget you and will always keep you in my heart along with the pictures that I have of you from back in the day... I mean back in the day.

Veronica, stay strong and know that you have a lot of people around you that really do care and want to help. Stay positive and strong for the kids and most importantly yourself. That is what Greg would have wanted you to do!

I can't even believe that I have type this. How have we come so far from the days of Reading Iron. I know we all wish we could just go back to the days when all we did was worry about Joe playing music on a Sunday. Gone but not forgotten. RIP Greg Jarvis
