Gwendolyn Gayle “Gwen” Drury Riley, 71, wife of Lowell H. Riley, Jr., passed away Monday, October 23, 2017 at her home. Born October 19, 1946 in Anderson County, KY, Gwen was the daughter of the late Wilmer “Slick” Drury and Pauline Riley Drury. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Regina Renee Riley Johnson.
Gwen worked as a zone manager for the Lawrenceburg Wal-Mart for 22 years. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening and working in flowers.
Including her husband, Gwen is survived by her children, Chad L. Riley (Janet Henson) of Junction City, Tammy Riley (Donnie) Mattingly of Bloomfield, and David (Tina) Riley of Lawrenceburg; 7 grandchildren; one great grandchild; her brother, Danny (Rita) Drury of Lawrenceburg; her sisters, Judy (Ben) Settles of Washington County and Darlene (Johnny) Coulter of Lawrenceburg; and seven nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 26th beginning at 1:00 PM at the Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Chesser and Bro. Gary Drury officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 – 8 PM.
Memorials in memory of Gwen Riley are suggested to Gideon’s International, c/o Anderson County Camp, P.O. Box 61, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342 or the American Cancer Society, Anderson Co. Relay for Life, 1504 College Way, Lexington, KY 40502.
Serving as pallbearers will be Phillip Riley, Dominic Hawkins, Ray Penwell, Jason Coulter, Jonathan Coulter, and Craig Settles. Honorary bearers will be Paige Turner, Patience Turner, Skylar Riley, Haleigh Riley, Hunter Vandivier, and members of the Mt. Pleasant Women’s Sunday School Class.
