Harry Scott Bernhart

Harry Scott "Jack" Bernhart,92, of Shillington, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023, at Complete Care Berkshire. He was the beloved husband of Frances Louise (Leister) Bernhart of Shillington. Together they shared 72 years of marriage. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late George R. and Anna D. (Schell) Bernhart. He was a 1948 graduate of Reading High School and attended Wyomissing Poly-Tech Institute where he earned a certificate in Electricity. Harry received his Master Electrician's license in 1960. During his life, he was employed as a Master electrician for Western Electric, later AT&T and Lucent. He retired February, 1990. He also worked in the 1950s as an electrician for the City of Reading and taught courses in the evening at the Reading Muhlenberg Vocational Technical School. Harry enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening, and taking his family on vacation. He was a member of Holy Cross United Methodist Church in Reading and The IBEW 1898. In addition to his wife Frances Louise Bernhart, he is survived by his children, Jo Anne (Bernhart) Moyer, wife of Robert S., of Lancaster; Scott W. Bernhart, husband of Kim (Ernst), of Alsace Township; John C. Bernhart, partner of Therese Gretzula, of Lebanon; grandchildren, Andrew S. Moyer, husband of Kate (Gehman), of Malvern, PA; Aimee E. (Moyer) Domire, wife of Justin T., of Silver Spring, MD; Alissa K. (Moyer) Bergstresser, wife of E. Paul, of Lancaster; Stormy L. (Bernhart) Lemay, wife of Gorden, of Muhlenberg Township; Shay M. (Bernhart)Lugo, wife of Angel, of Wernersville; and 13 great grandchildren. Harry was preceded in death by his 3 brothers, George R. Jr., John H., and James W. Memorial Service will be held at Bean Funeral Homes 129 E. Lancaster Ave. Shillington, PA 19607 on Monday, January 16, 2023, at 11:00am. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home from 10:00am-11:00am.
