Harry Kochel Obituary

Harry C. Kochel, 88, formerly of Rehrersburg, died of natural causes April 4, 2009, in Berks Heim, Bern Township.

He was the husband of Lillian I. (Lutz) Parson-Kochel, also a resident of Berks Heim.

Born in East Cocalico Township, Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Jefferson W. and Mamie (Shupp) Kochel.

He retired from Quaker Alloy Inc., Myerstown.

He was a former member of Christ Little Tulpehocken UCC, Bernville.

He was a captain of Rehrersburg Fire Company and a volunteer firefighter for 63 years. He was also a former commander of the Berks County Fire Association Zone 3 and a former member of the Bethel American Legion.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Donald W. Kochel, husband of Sharon, Stafford, Va.; and a daughter, Ruth Ann, wife of George Longacre, Shoemakersville.

Other survivors include 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, Dale E. Kochel.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Hill Funeral Home, Rehrersburg. Burial will be in Muddy Creek Cemetery, East Cocalico Township. Friends may call Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
