James Chelius

James P. Chelius, 85, of Reading PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 6, 2021. Jim was born in Reading, son of the late Frank and Helen (Hinkle) Chelius. He was a loving and devoted husband to Nancy (Clark) Chelius. They shared 61 cherished years together. Jim was very proud to have served honorably with the United States Marine Corps from 1956-1959, stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He was a welder in the steel industry for 36 years, retiring from Dana Corporation. In his younger years, Jim enjoyed skiing in the Poconos and playing golf with his friends at Perry Golf Course. Jim had a witty sense of humor and a one of a kind laugh that filled the room. That laugh will be greatly missed by many. Jim is survived by his wife, Nancy (Clark) Chelius; his children Kyle Chelius (Ruthanne) and Jamie Chelius Masters (Kevin); his grandchildren, Arianna Chelius Zane (Timothy), Morgan Chelius, Hunter Chelius, Conor Chelius, Nicolas Demmi, and Benjamin Demmi; his great grandson, Bennett Zane; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by sisters, Ruth Chelius and Helen Chelius Lambert, and brothers, Paul Chelius, John Chelius, Francis Chelius, and Thomas Chelius. Jim is in the care of the Cremation Society of Pennsylvania and did not wish to have services.
