James W. Frees Jr.

James W. Frees Jr., 74, of Reading, passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021, peacefully surrounded by his family at St. Joseph's Medical Center. He was the husband of Maria (Fernandez) Frees with whom he celebrated 45 wonderful years of marriage. Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Marie (Bague) Frees of Kutztown and the late James Frees. James was a graduate of Reading High School and was a member of St. Catharine of Siena R.C.C. He was a bus driver for Barta for 35 years until his retirement. James loved playing softball, bowling and all sports. He was an avid PIAA umpire and referee for basketball. In addition to his wife and mother, James is survived by two daughters, Michele wife of Edward E. Neukirch of Muhlenberg and Natalie wife of Ryan McLaughlin of Virginia; six grandchildren; Emma, Elexa, Orion, Evan, Owen, Camryn, two brothers, Thomas and William Frees and one sister, Kathy Dibendetto Visitation with family and friends will be held on Wednesday September 15, from 10:30 am to 12 noon with services beginning at 12 noon in Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Ave. Reading Pa 19606.
