He was a son of the late George and Florence (Seifert) Schearer and the brother of the late Paul Schearer and Lillian (Schearer) Schaich. He lived most of his life in Laureldale and South Temple.
Jim was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Laureldale.
He is survived by two nieces and four nephews.
Jim was retired from the Reading Railroad, and he spent his leisure time playing golf, gardening, traveling with his Airstream trailer and listening to his extensive collection of 78 records.
Jim proudly served his country during WWII (1941-1945) with the 9th Engineer Battalion and 9th Armored Division (previously known as the 2nd Cavalry Division). Friends and family were captivated with Jim's recollections from his experiences at Ft. Riley, Kansas, the Battle of the Bulge, and the capture and securing of Remagen Bridge.
Burial will be held privately at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
