He was the husband of Virginia F. (Fink) Blewett, who passed away July 4, 2009. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Dr. Joseph and H. Blanche (Sowers) Blewett.
Mr. Blewett served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and was a graduate of Penn State University, where he earned a mechanical engineering degree. He started his career as a Licensed Mechanical Engineer in Newport News, VA, in the Ship Building. He then went on to the former Western Electric and retired in 1989 from Baldwin Hardware.
Jack was a former member of the former Wesley United Methodist Church, Reading, and 1st United Methodist Church, Lancaster. He was also active in the PA Society of Professional Engineers.
Survivors include a daughter, JoAnne (Blewett) Foss, Lancaster, with whom he last resided; granddaughter, Melissa, wife of John Nehring, Hackettstown, NJ; great-granddaughter, Emily B. Nehring. He was preceded by grandson, Brian J. Foss and sister, Harriet Blewett.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jack's name to Holy Cross United Methodist Church, 329 N. 5th St., Reading, PA 19601, and/or 1st United Methodist Church, 29 East Walnut St., Lancaster, PA 17602.
Funeral services will be held in Bean Funeral Homes, North 16th & Rockland Sts. Hampden Heights Friday, July 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. William Lenz officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives 10:00-11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery.
