Born in West Reading, he was the son of John and Steph-anie S. (Perez) McDonald. He graduated in 2010 from Conrad Weiser High School. He was enrolled in the gifted program from second through 12th grade.
Jonathan was currently a freshman at Temple University, having been awarded a merit scholarship for the Honors Program to study psychology.
He played for Conrad Weiser lacrosse for four years as a defender and helped the team achieve the title of four-time Berks County Champions. In 2009 he was named second-team All County Defender and in 2010 was named first-team All County Defender. In 2007 he was a member of the Conrad Weiser County Champion soccer team and played left outside mid-fielder during his freshman through junior years.
Survivors include his parents, John and Stephanie McDonald; a brother, Matthew A. McDonald, at home; his maternal grandmother, Lidia Santacruz of Blandon; aunts Nancy McDonald, Melissa Panek, Marcella McDonald, Amy Tripple, Frances Perez and Connie Dominguez; and uncles Joseph McDonald and Orlando Perez.
Also, cousins Alexander Dominguez, Adrian Dominguez, Autumn Hill, Hannah Hill, Sarah Panek, Ethan Panek, Ava Tripple, and Lily Tripple
Services from Bean Funeral Home, 3825 Penn Ave., Monday at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Thomas L. Pap-palas officiating. Interment in Berks County Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday, 5 to 8 p.m., and Monday, 9 to 10:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Conrad Weiser Lacrosse Club, 117 Omega Circle, Wernersville, PA 19565.
