Born in Pottstown, he was a son of the late Norman Reider and the late Mary (Reustock) Reider.
He was a 1957 graduate of Pottstown High School. Joseph worked for PECO gas department, retiring in 1995 after 31 years.
He served in the U.S. Army reserves. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church in Annville, PA, and former member of St. Columbkill Roman Catholic Church. He was an avid gardener and a longtime member of Shamrocks Club in Pottstown.
Joe was a devoted husband to his wife of 52 years and a loving father to his three daughters: Renee D. Goddard, wife of Bill, of Boyertown, Jeanne M. Reider of Boyertown, and Mary Jo Dougherty, wife of John, of Virginia Beach; and his two sons, Chuck F. Reider, husband of Tracy L., of Boyertown, and Joseph W. Reider Jr. of Vermont.
He is also survived by one brother, Thomas Reider of Pottstown; eight grandchildren and two great-grand-children.
He was predeceased by one brother, Robert, and one sister, Nancy Wensel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Columbkill Roman Catholic Church, 200 Indian Springs Road, Boyertown. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. There will be no viewing. Relatives and friends will be received from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Boyertown Multi-Service, 200 West Spring Street, Boyertown, PA 19512. Arrangements are by the Morrell Funeral Home Inc. www.-MorrellFuneralHome.com.

Priscilla and family,
