My sister Juanita, we all to go home to be with the Lord but never expected you to leave us yet. I thank you for being obedient to the Holy Spirit, walking down our buildings hallway and for knocking on my door ( and a lot others ) 44 years ago, and introducing me to Jesus. We use to joke that Jesus was your husband and I would say know He's all mine.
You became the mom I needed, my big sister, my best friend. You were 35 and I was 24, where did the time go.You were my example We went out and ministered to the lost, homeless, prayed afternoons when the kids were in school, and then got together again for more word, coffee, pan de manteca and prayers into the night. We had vigils and so many would come to pray into the morning. I saw the Lord use you to cast out demons and souls were set free. So I followed your examples. We studied the word and even acted the word out. We visited home and prayed for the sick, my Lord I learned from you so much. Most of all I learned to remain faithful, to love God first and then everyone else, to ask God for forgiveness and also forgive others and not be resentful. I watch how sometimes you would sing your favorite song and sometime I would catch the tears running down your face as you sang and I knew why, but I followed your example and forgave. I regret never being able to go with you to minister on you missionary trips , especially D.R. But you knew why, and you knew I had to obey my husband, he was not saved yet and very concern.
The day came when I had to leave the church we both attended because you were replaced by another Bible school teacher for our youth. You were the only one that spoke English well enough to teach and teach the youth. My kids didn't speak English, neither did their Asian friends. So I had to stop teaching the little ones and you the youth. And the Lord led me to another church. But we still got together in the afternoons praying for our children and relatives and whomever and go out in the field and at night gather to read the word and pray, just to hear my husband calling out from our apartment " Helen! Come home!". Believe me I was a faithful wife, and took care of home and family but being with Juanita, looking into what she was going to write next , and all was my joy. But not only for me, but a whole bunch of us , they can testify if they had to. One lives in Cali and because of you Juanita, he is still serving the Lord, a medical doctor by profession who chose to dedicate himself to the Lord and serves as a shepherd.
Thank you Juanita because you showed me to serve and today I serve the Lord as an evangelist in my community called by the Lord alone. I am humbled to serve in such a way because God used you to help me grow into that calling even before I was called. I can wait to leave and see the Lord to thank Him. For now it seems you beat me to it, and you have gone to see your beloveth, your Husband , Jesus. My sister, my friend ,see you later where we will sit and share of the Greatness of our Lord and we will never have to stop and leave. So much to reminisce.... your Home at last.....love you so much...your friend , your sister in Christ....Helen
