Kathryn M. Zimmerman

Kathryn “Kit” M. Zimmerman, 92, of Reading, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, June 30, 2021. A lifelong resident of Reading, she was the daughter of the late John C. and Catherine M. (Vogel) Zimmerman. She was a 1947 graduate of Central Catholic High School. Kit worked as a Customer Service Supervisor for Molly Fastener Division of what is now Stanley/Black & Decker, for 37 years before retiring in 1991. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, volunteered at Reading Hospital and served as a coordinator for Meals on Wheels. Kit was a loving and caring person who will be missed dearly. As one of her friends says, “Everybody likes Kit.” What made her great at her job made her a great friend; she chose her words carefully and always spoke in the most supportive way possible. Playing golf was one of her passions, and she loved to shop and grab lunch with her friends, and enjoyed a good game of cards or dominoes. Kit is survived by her brother, Paul L. Zimmerman, of Reading, her nieces, Karen Zimmerman, of Reading and Kathy Varga, wife of Michael of Texas, and her great niece and nephew, Ashley and Chris. She is preceded in death by her siblings, John L. Zimmerman and Joan M. Zimmerman, as well as her parents. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 6 2021 in Bean Funeral Home, 1605 Rockland Street, Hampden Heights at 11:00 am. Monsignor John J. Grabish to celebrate. The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Interment to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in honor of Kathryn M.
