Kenneth Kistler Obituary

Kenneth H. Kistler, 71 of Leesport, passed away in his home on Saturday morning, May 14, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Eileen (Dowd) Kistler, to whom he was married for almost 49 years. Born in Allentown, Mr. Kistler was the son of the late Harlan G. and Ruth M. (Frankenfield) Kistler. He was preceded in death by his sister Eleanor R. (Kistler) Livinghouse. He is survived by his daughter Julie K. Kemmerer, wife of Ronald C. Kemmerer, Jr. of Fleetwood and was a grandfather figure to Drew, Chase and Matthew and was loved like a father by the boys’ parents, Lizabeth and Jami Rubendall. Ken was a graduate of Muhlenberg High School and Kutztown State College. Most of his professional career was spent in banking followed by time in insurance. He was a member of Fleetwood Bible Church where he served in the ministries of: Elder, Treasurer, a beloved Sunday School Teacher affectionately referred to as “Mr. Peanut Butter,” and Building Committee member. Ken was known as a gentleman as well as a humble and gentle man. He always put the wants and needs of others before his own and took joy in quietly serving and helping others. Additionally, Ken enjoyed a range of hobbies which included: bike riding and hiking trails with his wife, reading house plan books, working on cross words puzzles and crosstitch projects and exploring new places as he was often off in adventures with his family. He was an avid Oley Valley sports fan, and you would find him cheering at all their soccer and basketballs games. He had a fantastic sense of humor with quick wit which was evidenced and enjoyed by those who knew him best. The family will receive visitors at Fleetwood Bible Church, 2847 Moselem Springs Road, Fleetwood, PA 19522 on Sunday, May 29 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Fleetwood Bible Church Building Fund at the above address in memory of Mr. Kenneth H. Kistler.

So sorry for your loss Eileen and Julie. I worked with Ken for years at LM. He was a great friend and a kind person. I will miss him.

Was so sorry to hear the news of Ken's passing. Since moving away from the Reading area back in the early 80's I lost touch with Ken but my mom and he remained close friends until her passing in 2001. Lots of good memories of our days at Alsace and family gatherings at each other's homes. Rest in Peace.

Ken and I became close as employees of Bank of PA back in the 1970's and remained friends over the years. Ken was like a brother from another mother and he will be sorely missed by Jennie and me. We spent many happy adventures over the years - going for ice cream while on banking business calls always comes to-mind. Ken was a true friend. We loved him and will always remember him with smiles. He might be gone from us here but we all know he is with our Lord.

Ken, you will be missed. A quote by Helen Keller is as the following: "the best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart" Our Heartfelt wish to your family is meant to simply say, May God bless and strength you each and every day! Rose and Jorge Torres
