attended both the Reading Hospital School of Nursing and Drexel University, where she earned her RN and BSN, respectively. Lauren worked at the Reading

Hospital, Haven Behavioral Health and most recently Grifols Plasma in Reading.

Lauren possessed an unparalleled sense of adventure and a craving for new experiences. Her innate desire to care for others was apparent through both her career as a nurse, and her love of animals. Her constant companion, Bella, is a registered therapy beagle. Bella would accompany Lauren to various hospitals and nursing homes. Lauren loved

surfing, hiking, biking, skiing, horseback riding, rock

climbing, kayaking, camping and was an avid skydiver.

Becoming a National Ski Patrol member in high school led to her decision to become an RN. She participated in

numerous running and biking events, her favorite being Bethany Beach Tri-Du-Aquabike, benefitting First Responders. She was an active member of the Civil Air

Patrol Squadron 811 since joining at age 12. Lauren

participated in emergency services, cadet programs and aerospace, as well as her favorite, Hawk Mountain Ranger School, achieving the rank of 1st Lieutenant. She remained active as a senior staff member and medic at Hawk

Mountain.

Energetic, persistent and determined, Lauren will be

remembered by her contagious laugh and unrelenting courage.

She is survived by her parents, Michael and Deborah Hartman, of Sinking Spring; and her two sisters, Kelsey Hartman and Christen Haas (Hartman). She also leaves her maternal grandmother, Marian Ertel; aunts; uncles; and cousins. She was preceded in death by her maternal

grandfather, Thomas Ertel; and paternal grandparents, Sterling and Mary Hartman.

Family, friends and others whose lives Lauren touched are invited to St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish, 2810 St. Albans Drive, Reading, PA 19608, on Wednesday, November 8. The viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., with Mass following at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery for the immediate family only. Arrangements are under the direction of Kuhn Funeral Home, West Reading, Pennsylvania.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Humane Society of Reading or Civil Air Patrol Hawk Mt. Ranger School at www.capranger.org.

Mr. and Mrs. Hartman, Kelsey, Christen- I just want to express my deepest condolences to you all. It's taken me some time to think of something to say, and even now I still don't have words to express how much I wish I could be there to give you all a giant hug, and how big of a hole in my heart I now have. Even though it has been a long time since we talked, I loved Lauren so much, and I wish I had been better able to stay in touch and continue to be her friend even after I left Reading. I'll never forget how honoured I was when she asked me to be her confirmation sponsor, or how much fun I had when she was showing me how to ride Harry's motorbike, and too many other memories to count. I soloed Lauren at the 2008 Powered Flight Encampment in Franklin. She was the cadet commander there. A natural leader and active with CAP ever since. What a terrible loss. I think she was only 26 or 27.

Every time I see the entry in my logbook I will think of her and remember her fondly.
