Leroy H. Fretz passed away peacefully in his sleep Tuesday morning, the 20th of

November.

He was the only child of Herbert C. and Lillie M. (Sechler) Fretz; and devoted and loving husband of Erma A. (Spohn) Fretz.

They married on November 25, 1945.

He was born in Mertztown and raised in Fleetwood, and graduated from Fleetwood High School in 1938.

Leroy was a World War II Army veteran, serving to liberate Italy. His tour also

included time in Northern Africa and

Germany. He worked for Glen Gery Brick

for 38 years. After retiring he never stopped finding new interests, which included

horseback riding, hiking at Blue Marsh Lake and Nolde Forest, sunning on a bench and finding every tree listed at the Reading

Museum. He enjoyed local jazz, coloring and doing Sudoku, attracting many

friendships along the way.

He is survided by four children: Phyllis K., wife of Charles Hawmn; William R., husband of Melanie Fretz; Diane L., wife of Paul Kosakowski; and Keith L., husband of Sarah Fretz.

Other survivors include his three grandchildren:

Elizabeth Hawman, Matthew Hallowell, and Megan (Hallowell), wife of Chris Papich; and two great-grandchildren who he adored and who brought great joy to him, Mallory and Sawyer Papich.

A faithful Christian, Leroy was a member of Grace Bible Fellowship Church, Reading.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, November 29th, at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Bible Fellowship Church, 1128 Hampden Blvd., Reading, PA 19604. Interment will follow at Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township.

Contributions may be made to Grace Bible Fellowship Church, at the above address, and/or Hope Rescue Mission, 645 N. 6th Street, Reading, PA 19601.
