Margery DaDamio Obituary

Margery Ann (Krengel) DaDamio, 93, passed away in Cornwall, PA on January 5, 2021. She was the wife of the late Anthony Raymond DaDamio for 63 years. She was born October 24, 1927 to the late Paul William Carl and Matie Henrietta (Raveling) Krengel in Wabasso, MN. In 1946, she graduated salutatorian from Lamberton High School, Lamberton, MN, where she received many awards upon graduation, one of the most distinguished was the Legion Award. She was a member of the home economics club, library club, school paper, rooter club, tumbling team, and band. Margery earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and post-baccalaureate certification in Public Health Nursing from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN in 1951. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society of Nursing and Alpha Tau Delta National Nursing Sorority. Margery met her would-be husband while studying for her nursing boards at a lake near the University of Minnesota. Ten months later, on April 26, 1952, they wed in the Chapel of Saint Robert Bellarmine, Minneapolis, MN. From 1952 to 1953, she was head nurse at the University of Minnesota Hospital, Minneapolis, MN; St. Joseph’s Hospital, Waverly, IA; and St. Mary’s Hospital, North Platte, NE. After the birth of Tony and Margery’s first child, Margery decided to leave her nursing career to become a homemaker. Her children can attest to the fact that she had “the patience of a saint” and never lost her temper with them or even raised her voice. In 1983 she was hired by the Wilson School District for the Child Care Program, and retired after sixteen and half years of service. She loved cooking, baking, knitting, sewing, gardening, painting, wallpapering, furniture refinishing, walking, dancing with her husband at weddings, and watching her children and grandchildren at sporting events, dance and musical performances, and various other activities. The presentation of her meals, especially on Holidays, were picture-perfect and delicious. Margery will be remembered as a selfless, caring, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother with a kind, beautiful soul. She enjoyed taking care of her family and always sacrificed her need for the good of her family. She was known for her beautiful smile. Margery was ever calm and serene in her Catholic faith. Margery is survived by her six children: Debra Ann Wagaman (Terry), Rita Margaret Jackson (Trey), Catharine Lou Bruno (Anthony), Captain Rebecca Rae DaDamio, Reverend Paul Anthony DaDamio, and John Raymond DaDamio (Lynn), 13 grandchildren: Sarah (Wagaman) Kerins (Matt), Michael Bruno (Lisa), Stacey (Bruno) Berger (Drew), Laura (Wagaman) Furman (Brennan), Katelyn Bruno, Lauren Jackson, Jessica Bruno, Dr. Jonathan Jackson, Vincent Bruno, Rachel DaDamio, Matthew DaDamio, Audrey DaDamio, and Alena DaDamio, 11 great grandchildren: Luke Kerins, Thompson Berger, Julian Berger, Makenzie Berger, Charlie Bruno, Kyleigh Berger, Phineas Bruno, Clara Furmen, Lilian Berger, Lavinia Furmen, and Rayna Kerins, one sister in-law, Florence (DaDamio) McMahon, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Margery was predeceased by her husband, parents, two sisters, Ruth Krengel and Doris (Krengel) Erickson, two brothers-in-law, George Erickson and Francis McMahon, one child, five grandchildren, and one great grandchild. The family greatly appreciates the care given to their mother at Cornwall Manor Health Center. A viewing and Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated privately at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church, Reading, PA on Saturday, January 9, 2021 with a private burial at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Birdsboro, PA. The Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, was entrusted with arrangements. Condolences, tributes, and fond memories may be expressed at www.kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
