Marie Weidenhammer Marie Balthaser Weidenhammer, 87 years old, of Millerstown, passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021 at The Bridges at Bent Creek, Mechanicsburg. She was born October 5, 1933 in Greenwich Township, Berks County, PA to Luther and Erma (Kistler) Balthaser. She was a graduate of Kutztown High School (1951) and Kutztown State Teacher’s College (1955). She taught in Cayce, SC and in Allentown, Muhlenberg, and Newport, PA. In 1993, she retired from the Greenwood School District in Millerstown, PA. She was a member of the Highland Presbyterian Church in Newport where she was former secretary and moderator of the Women’s Circle, a substitute Sunday School teacher, deacon and elder. She was a member of the Newport Civic Club, where she was a former treasurer and was a member of the Millerstown Civic Club where she served as president and secretary. Marie was a member of the PA Association of School Retirees, Herbal Gatherings, S.C. “Sizzlers” Line Dance Group, Newport Women’s Club, Church Women United, Cluster 5 Leaders for Presbyterian Women Coordinating Team, Perry County Advisory Council on Aging, and the Millerstown Senior Center Board, She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Marie won the Outstanding Senior Citizen Award in 2002 from the Millerstown Area Jaycees and was the recipient of the 2010 John J. Dillon PASR Service Award. Marie was the widow of Ronald George Weidenhammer and is survived by her son Michael S. Weidenhammer of Millerstown and daughter Sherri Linn and her husband Greg of Harrisburg; grandchildren Eric and Andrea Linn and Jonas, Claire, Ella and Ian Weidenhammer. Services will be held Friday, June 4 at the Highland United Presbyterian Church, 11 Church Road, Newport with a viewing from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM with Reverend Nancy McClure officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery, Millerstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Highland United Presbyterian Church, American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer Research, Alzheimer’s Association - Greater PA Chapter - Harrisburg or Grane Hospice. So sorry to hear of the passing of Marie. I was the Manager at the Millerstown Senior Center for many years and Marie served on the board when I first started there. She was so kind and sweet and a pleasure to be around. Many condolences to you and your family.
