She was the wife of the late Ivan M. Martin, who died April 9, 2004.
Born Nov. 17, 1922, in Earl Township, Lancaster County, she was a daughter of the late Esra Z. and Lydia (Zimmerman) Burkholder.
She was a member of the Fleetwood Mennonite Church, (Groffdale Conference).
A homemaker, she enjoyed making quilts and caring for her garden and her many indoor plants.
Mary is survived by her five sons: Harvey B., husband of Mary (Shirk) Martin, Antwerp N.Y.; Raymond B., husband of Thelma (King) Martin, Lewistown; Ezra B., husband of Violet (Garman) Martin, Ephrata; Ivan M. Jr., husband of Edna (Fox) Martin, Fleetwood; and Jere B., husband of Edith (Oberholtzer) Martin, Kutztown; and four daughters: Alta B., wife of Norman Zimmerman, Lime Springs, Iowa; Annetta B., wife of Moses L. Zimmerman, Thorp, Wis.; Arlene B., wife of Irvin Shirk, Thorp; and Pauline B., wife of Nevin Brubaker, Hamburg.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Etta, wife of Harold L. Zimmerman, Fleetwood; two grandsons and two great-grandchildren.
Mary is also survived by brothers: Paul Z. Burkholder, Ephrata; Aaron Z. Burkholder, Fleetwood; Weaver Z. Burkholder, Kutztown; and Raymond Z. Burkholder, Edina Mo.; and sisters: Lydia Z., wife of David Reiff, Ephrata; Anna Z., wife of Raymond Martin, Kutztown; Edna Z., wife of John Weaver, Kutztown; and Elizabeth Z., wife of Elmer Weaver, Fleetwood.
She was predeceased by brothers: Eli Z. Burkholder, Ezra Z. Burkholder and John Z. Burkholder; and sisters, Lena Z. Martin and Esther Z. Zimmerman.
She had 10 children, 60 grandchildren and 116 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, in Fleetwood Mennonite Church. The viewing will be held at the late home on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
