He was the husband of Mary E. (Shelton) VanArt.
Born in McAlisterville, he was the son of the late John A. and Elsie B. (Hoffman) VanArt.
He was a member of Calvary Bible Fellowship Church.
He was an Army veteran, having served in World War II, where he was awarded a Bronze Star.
He retired in 1989 after 10 years with Corbit Inc. in Wyomissing, having formerly worked for Car Tech for many years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Randall L. VanArt, and his wife, Sharon, Wernersville; a daughter, Sandra L., and her husband, Robert F. Wummer, Denver; two sisters, Ruth and her husband, William Ressler, Wernersville, and Mae, widow of Victor Sookiasian, Manheim; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother, Lawrence VanArt.
Funeral services are rescheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday at Lamm & Witman Funeral Home, Wernersville, with the Rev. Dr. Robert A. Sloan officiating. Friends are invited to call from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery.
