Noel M. Townsend

Noel M. Townsend, age 90, of Exeter township passed away on May 30, 2021 at Reading Hospital. He was the husband of Phoebe A. (Snell) Townsend, who celebrated 65 years of marriage. Noel was born in Banglore, India the son of the late Archibald A. Townsend and Florence A. (Browne) Townsend Shires. During World War II he was an officer in in the Royal Air Force in India and transferred into the Indian Air Force spending 23 years in service. Leaving the Air Force he moved to the United States and was employed as an electrical engineer last working for Red Cheek Apple Juice, Fleetwood retiring in 1993. Noel loved hunting and fishing and was an avid reader. Surviving is his wife Phoebe and three daughter’s Christine E. (Townsend) wife of Harold Rader of Fleetwood, Jacqueline D. Townsend partner of Bradlee Pettus of Colorado Springs and Michelle C. (Townsend) wife of Joseph A. Klusewitz of Exeter Township. Also three grandsons Matthew T. Rader husband of Kimberly Rader, Andrew M. Rader husband of Meredith Rader and Joshua T. Klusewitz. Four great grandchildren Dameon, Ryleigh, Lincoln, and Nolan. He is survived by his brother Reginald Shires of Silver Springs, MD. Noel was predeceased by his brother’s Oscar Townsend, Archibald Townsend and Harold Shires.
