He was the husband of the late Mary Ann (Reichenbach) Lanute.
Born in Phoenixville, PA, he was the son of the late Oscar P. Lanute Sr. and Miriam (Walker) Lanute.
Phil was a graduate of Owen J. Roberts High School. He was a driver for Matthews International Casket Division, retiring in 2012.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps as Sergeant from 1964 to 1967 during the Vietnam War, with the 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Division.
Survivors include a son, Edward Kelly, husband of Melanie Kelly of Leola, PA; daughter, Helene M. Moyer of Pottstown, PA; brother, David Lanute, husband of Beth of Exton, PA; two sisters: Dawn Fries of Pottstown and Barbara Evans, wife of James Evans of Spring City, PA; four grandchildren: Joseph Moyer, husband of Jessica of Vero Beach, FL; Justin Levengood, fiancé of Rachyl Lawrence Lenhardt of Fort Pierce, FL; Ryan Moyer of Birdsboro, PA; and Kacey L. Levengood of Fort Pierce; and three great-grandchildren: Andrew, Jaxson and Colby.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at the Houck & Gofus Funeral Home, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St. Pottstown. Pastor Raymond Evans will officiate. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 and from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Pottstown.

Daddy... I waited to put anything in here.. because i can't seem to find the right words.. you are an amazing man, husband, father and grandfather.. my biggest wish for you is that your with mom and are happy and at peace.. I am so grateful for the last few weeks we had together. There were so many things we talked about and so many words unspoken.. I know that you love me and you know that I love you too.. That's what is most important.. Someday until we see each other again.. Take care and hug mom for me.. The heavens just became more beautiful than ever.. Love your daughter.. Helene...
