Peter Goda Sr.

Peter M. Goda, Sr., 79, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020 in Reading Hospital from complications of COPD. Born in Reading PA, he was the son of Kermit J. Goda, Sr. and Florence R.G. (Noll) Goda. He is survived by his brother Kermit J. Goda, Jr., his children Julie, Mark & Jonathan Goda, and his dear companion Doris with whom he resided for the last several years of his life. He is also survived by grandchildren Joshua; Elijah; Peter, III; Judith and Sabrina Goda; and his great grandchildren Paisley and Sutton Goda; and Kendra, Hunter & Paisley Guenther; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother David C. Goda. Peter graduated from Reading High School in 1960 and Albright College in 1968, with a B.S. in History after completing 4 years of service in the US Airforce where he served from 1960-1964 as a Chaplin’s Assistant in Wiesbaden, Germany. Peter dedicated his life to social services in support of his community by serving as a volunteer and on the Boards of the Red Cross, Threshold, the National Council on Alcoholism, and Church Farm School. He also served as a Lieutenant in West Reading’s Fire Police Department and as Secretary for the Berks County Fire Police Association. A graveside memorial service celebrating and honoring Peter’s life will be held in the Spring of 2021 when conditions are more favorable for a gathering of his family and friends.
