He was married Nov. 18, 1945, to the late Myrtle Ruth (Gruber) Eiler, who died Sept. 28, 2004.
Born in Reading on Sept. 2, 1919, he was a son of the late Edward and Stella (Hoffman) Eiler.
He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Laureldale.
Robert was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was employed from 1947 to 1987 as a driver with BARTA, Reading, and later as a dispatcher for 10 years with Muhlenberg Ambulance before retiring in 1997.
Robert was the current president of the board for BARTA Berks Community Federal Credit Union, serving in that position since 1997.
He is survived by a daughter, Sharon E. (Eiler), widow of John D. Glase Jr., Kenhorst.
Other survivors include a granddaughter, Stephanie G. (Glase), wife of William A. Griffith, Reading, and a great-granddaughter, Ashley M. Griffith.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, with the Rev. Thomas F. Irwin Jr. officiating. A viewing will be held Friday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township.
