He was the widower of Lois J. (Rohrbach) Feichtl. Born in Whitehall, he was a son of the late Adolph and Sophia (Weslock) Feichtl.
He graduated from
Kutztown University with a Bachelor of Science in
Education and a Master of Education/Counseling, and from Lehigh University a Master of Education / Elementary Education.
Robert's first job out of high school was for Mack Trucks, Inc. He then worked as an elementary school teacher for both Parkland and Whitehall School
districts. During that time he worked summers at Wolfe Dye & Bleach and at Dorney Park.
He worked for Muhlenberg School District as a school counselor, retiring in 1996. After retiring, he worked for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board,
retiring in 2003. Robert was a Staff Sergeant in the PA
National Guard.
He was a member of St.
Joseph the Worker R.C. Church in Orefield. Robert was a member of the Trexlertown Grange #1755 and the Pennsylvania State Grange, the Pennsylvania State
Educators Assoc., and the Knights of Columbus. He was a leader of the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 72, having both of his sons become Eagle Scouts.
Survivors are sons Kenneth R. and wife, Brenda, of Centreville, VA; Douglas J. and wife, Wendy, of Harrisburg; brothers William
and Joseph; sisters Marie DalMaso, Josie Hozza,
Dorothy Reimer and Kathleen Pompa; seven grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Keith J.
Mass of Christian Burial is at 11 AM, Monday, March 17 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 1879 Applewood Dr., Orefield, PA 18069. Viewing will be from 10 to 11 A.M. at the church. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Hungary Cemetery, 1324 Newport Ave., Northampton.
