Robert Dalton Finer Jr. was born June 19, 1960, in Yonkers, N.Y.
He was married to Theresa Finer for 27 years and they had two children, Bob III and Christa.
Bob was especially involved in coaching his children's sports teams, from football and baseball with his son to leading his daughter's basketball squads for several years. His passion for competition and unique style of instruction made him an unforgettable leader.
Later in life, Capt. Bob satisfied his admiration for nature and the sea by frequenting the green-blue Gulf of Mexico waters off the coast of Naples, Fla., in his boat. Those days, which sometimes stretched into the night, became some of the best memories in Bob's recent past.
Bob was notorious for his unwavering commitment to family, boisterous laugh, intellect, ever-present opinion and one-of-a-kind perspective on life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Theresa; his son, Bob III; his daughter, Christa; his brothers, Scott and Greg; nieces Rebecca, Melissa, Jessica and Amy; nephews Thomas, Joseph, Daniel and Andrew; brother-in-law and best friend, Donny; brother-in-law, Kenny; sisters-in-law, Michelle and Sheri; mother-in-law, Arlene; father-in-law, Don; his dear friends, and all of those who were touched by his words and inspired by his thoughts.
A memorial service will be held honoring Bob's life on Friday, Aug. 13, at 3 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel, 525 111th Ave. N., Naples, FL 34108, phone: 239-597-3101.
In lieu of flowers, send donations to VITAS Hospice Care, 5430 NW 33rd Ave., Suite 106, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33309.

I realize that this is very late in expressing my sincere thoughts & prayers to all of you. Scott I know you will miss your brother deeply you two were glued at the hip ( At Scarborough & even after Scarborough ). Theresa you do not know me at all. I went to school with Bobby,Scott, and Jeanine ( class of '77 ) but know you have my deepest sympathy at your loss. I have alot of fond memories of Bobby and it always made the world alittle bit nicer knowing he was still around ( even though we had all gone seperate ways ) I read the My story he wrote in classmates and was glad to know he was happy & settled , as well as humorous as ever. I wish I had learned about this sooner & will pass this on to others who also knew him & have lost touch. All My Best For All of You.

I just heard of Bob's passing the other day. I was so saddened by the news. I knew Bob for a brief time. My wife has Rheumatoid and I met bob in the Doctor's office a few years back. He was so helpful and encouraging to my wife. He was also very helpful to me. What a great guy. To his wife and children: Although I never met you, I feel as though I know all of you. Bob was so proud of his children. He never stopped talking about you both. His wife was his best friend. My wife and I would smile at how much he loved you. I hope you all find comfort in knowing that Bob was loved by many and loved you very much. He will be missed! Now you can go fishing Bob!

Dear Theresa, Bobby & Christa
We join with so many of your friends and family in sending our deepest sympathy to all of you, as well as Bobs extended family. Knowing the measure of a life well lived is not in how much money one has or what possessions they have accumulated, but rather through the lives they touched and the sorrow they leave behind. If the outpouring of sympathy on his loss is any indication, and it certainly is, you can surely say that his indeed was a life well-lived. May you find peace and comfort in knowing that his loss is felt by all who knew him. Memories are forever. With our love and God's blessings to all of you.
