Shirley A. Schaeffer

Shirley A. Schaeffer, 77, of Lyon Station, died suddenly on Saturday, November 11, 2023, in her home. She was the wife of LeRoy E. Schaeffer. They were married September 8, 1963. Born in Allentown, Shirley was a daughter of the late Herbert and Anna (Showalter) Oswald. Shirley was a member of Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bowers, where she was a former Sunday School Teacher. Shirley was first employed by J. L. Shirt, Fleetwood; then as a manager by Burger King, Kutztown; then Boyer's Supermarket, Fleetwood; and retired from Paul Fredrick Shirt Company, Fleetwood. Shirley was a member of Lyons Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary; she enjoyed doing word searches, going to BINGO; spending time with family and friends and enjoyed animals, especially her cats. In addition to her husband of 60 years, LeRoy, Shirley is survived by a daughter, JoAnne M. (Schaeffer), wife of Archie L. Hill, Kutztown. There is also a sister, Janie (Oswald), wife of Ralph Landis, Breinigsville. In addition to her parents, Shirley was predeceased by two sons, Glenn M. Schaeffer on June 4, 1980; and Randy L. Schaeffer on March 2, 1987. A funeral service to celebrate and honor Shirley's life will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. from Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, 550 Fleetwood Road, Bowers, with The Reverend Martin A. Milne, officiating. Interment in New Jerusalem Union Cemetery, Fleetwood. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the church.
