Steve Karpati Obituary


Steve Karpati, 82, of Exeter Township, passed away Wednesday, October 9th, 2013 in The Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

He was the husband of

Julia (Somogyi) Karpati. Born in Szoc, Hungary, he was the son of the late Peter and Agota (Szabo) Pleibeisz.

Steve was a member St. Catharine of Siena R.C.C., Lehigh University Southside Boosters Club and the Philadelphia and Vicinity Hungarian Sports Club (Magyar Tanya). He was a machinist at Standard Electric for many years until his retirement.

In addition to his wife, Steve is survived by one daughter, Suzan Karpati-Flipping, wife of Robert L. Flipping III, of Oklahoma City. He is also survived by two grandchildren: Astiana, 21, and Robert L. Flipping IV, 19, and one sister, Julia Eichinger, 84, Szoc, Hungary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Catharine of Siena Chapel, 2427 Perkiomen Ave. Mount Penn, PA on Wednesday, October 16th at 11:00 a.m. Friends may call at the chapel from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Entombment in Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum, Laureldale.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The American Heart Association, P.O. Box 15120, Chicago, Illinois 60693.

Our hearts are filled with deepest sorrow for your loss. Steve was a wonderful man and neighbor. He always had a smile and a friendly word to say. He is going to be missed.
