Born in Thaton, Burma (Myanmar), he was a son of the late Daw Htwe and U Kyan Mar.
He received a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of New South Wales, Australia.
Than worked as an engineer at Alcoa in Massena, NY, retiring in 1998.
He loved carpentry, family vacations, cooking, chess, cruises and classic movies.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Andrew Naing, husband of Grace Yun, New York City; and his daughter, Grace Naing, wife of Timothy Ferenchick, Sinking Spring; three siblings: Than Wai, Ni Ni Lwin and Myint Myint Khine; and two grandsons, Alex Ferenchick and Will Ferenchick.
Viewings will be held Friday, October 9, 2015, from 4 to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, October 10, 2015, from 2 to 4 p.m., in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. A Remembrance Service will be held Saturday from 4 to 4:30 p.m., with an additional viewing from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
