Thomas Ritter Obituary

Thomas Daniel Ritter Thomas Daniel Ritter of Reading passed away in his hometown on December 25, 2020 at the age of 74. He was predeceased by his mother Bonne (Folk) Ritter and his father John “Jack” Ritter. A graduate of Cheshire Academy and LaGrange College, Tom was a longtime member and supporter of the Reading area community and was active in community theater. Tom attended Mt. Penn school district and was a member of the boys’ choir at Christ Episcopal Church in Reading and of the Sertoma Club. He was proud to be a part of the family business, Sellers & Co., the men’s custom clothing store that his father Jack owned on N. 5th Street. Over his life, Tom embraced a diversified career that included his roles as an amateur actor, investment broker at Dean Witter Reynolds and entrepreneur as founder of the Outback Juice Factory in Sinking Spring. He served in the United States Army Reserve, stationed in Carmel, California. Tom embraced life and encouraged others to do so, whether traveling abroad, reuniting with old friends or sampling an exotic dish. A passionate traveler, Tom loved hunting, fishing, and a really good steak or lobster. His favorite place to visit was Majorca, Spain and his sense of humor will be missed. He is survived by his wife, Sherri Farkas Ritter, daughter Alexandra “Sacha” (Ritter) Olexy, son-in-law Douglas John Olexy and granddaughter Julia Katherine Olexy. He was previously married to Anne Dutko Ritter. A memorial service will be planned at a future date.
