We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Stottlemyer Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. Travis, soon it will be a year that you will have left God's earth for higher ground. The death of a child is something you never get over so please let your parents know that you are now ok. God has a way of giving us signs when we're still and I pray that God has allowed those signs to come to your parents and family. As a Gold Star Mother I know the pain of the death of a child. I also know that it's not the death we remember but the life you lived and loved. May that life be celebrated and remembered forever.

Your parents aren't alone and there are many who are there for them. If they ever want to talk to others who have gone through the death of a child or loved one in active duty please do contact me.

May God continue to provide His love and comfort to your family and friends.

We just heard Nancy Grace honoring your son this evening and we want you to know that you're in our thoughts and prayers. There really are no words that anyone can say to ease the pain of losing your child. The only thing we can offer is that we are so very sorry for your loss and the suffering you've had to endure, and even though we don't know your family, we share our tears and sadness for you. We are so very thankful for your son's bravery and sacrifice for our freedom. How can we ever be thankful enough? When you're feeling sad, just try to remember the good times with your son, the happy times, the fun, the laughs, and all his great qualities. Thank you for raising a great son, one who gave the ultimate sacrifice, one who would make me feel so proud if he were my son. Again, I am SO sorry for your pain and I wish I could take it away.

My heartfelt sympathy to the Stottlemyer family and friends in the loss of Travis. I did not know Travis, but my heart is broken and I am saddened for your loss of such a fine young person and hero. May God bring you peace in your heart as you reflect on all the wonderful memories you hold so close. Please know that you are in my heart and prayers. My heart was touched by the many wonderful/beautiful things written about you. Travis you are my hero and you will NEVER be forgotten.

Travis, words cannot explain how much we miss you, how much we'll all miss you, the joy you brought to our lives, the smile to our faces, and the support you continously gave me through some of the most diffiicult times of my life, i'll never forget that smile, as i often reflect on what you would say, don't worry about it.. as i walked through the trials of getting seperated from the navy you always were there for me, i miss you more than words can ever describe,save me a place in heaven.. i'll meet you at the gates, until then.. "sempa fi, devil dog.. OORAH..." how we'd end every conversation until we meet again, rip.

Travis, God bless you soldier and thank you for your brave and honorable service to a grateful nation and for paying the ultimate price for our freedom.. You are now in great company with God and so many other fallen hero's before and after you. On 5/6/08 my nephew PFC Aaron J. Ward was killed in action in Iraq and my final promise to him was to never forget him and our fallen hero’s, we will never forget their commitment and sacrifice. To the Stottlemyer family, words cannot express the pain we now share, but our families will forever have a bond and we will be thinking of Travis and your family and will keep you in our thoughts & prayers. Please accept my heart felt condolences and my prayer that god help you cope with this tragic loss and may the memories of your HERO carry you through each day. From one Gold Star family to another!

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to LCpl. Travis M. Stottlemyer our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Travis. And to Travis it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made in combat while serving the Corps and his country. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Travis, you are a brave Marine Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.
