He was the husband of Katharine Virginia (Pitzonka) Frantz and would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary May 8, 2007.
Born in Lancaster, he was a son of the late Frederick McKinley and Marie (Fisher) Frantz.
He was the owner of William Frantz Co., a mechanical engineering firm for 20 years.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. After being discharged from active duty he continued to serve in the Air Force retiring as a lieutenant colonel after 20 years of service.
He was a member of St. Jude Episcopal Church, Lafayette Hill; treasurer for the Boy Scouts of Montgomery County, member of Air Force Reserves Retired Officers Association, Military Officers Association of America.
He graduated from Penn State University majoring in mechanical engineering. While at Penn State, he was a member of Tau Beta Pi, an honors fraternity, and Pi Kappa Phi.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, William Frederick Frantz Jr., and his grandson, Rajan Lee Frantz, both of Berlin, Vt.
He was predeceased by his brother, Charles W. Frantz.
Services will be private. The Klee Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Shillington, is in charge of arrangements.
