Arnold Pomeroy Obituary

Arnold E. Pomeroy (Arnie)
1951-2021

Arnold E. Pomeroy (Arnie) passed peacefully in his home surrounded by his wife and children on the morning of October 9, 2021. Arnie was born in February of 1951 in Iowa. He grew up in Iowa and was adopted at age 13 along with his brother Pat by his parents, Joseph and Linda Felker.
Arnie married his first wife Marsha in 1974 and they had four beautiful daughters: Cary Stillman (Jimmy), Krista Rooks (Jason), Shannon Pomeroy, and Chelsea Pomeroy. After Marsha's passing he met and married Denise Pomeroy and gained two sons: Jake Burgess (Amber) and Danny Fields. Arnie and Denise raised their six children together for the next 24 years creating a beautiful family that was later filled with many grandchildren: Tyler (Ashley), Jace, Braden, Jake, Andreah, Joshua, Graysha, McKenzie, Charles Arnold and a great granddaughter Skyler. Arnie was a caring man who spent his life caring for others. Arnie served in the United States Navy. When he left the Navy he pursued a career in nursing. He started his nursing career at Lakeside hospital as an Emergency Room nurse. He then worked as a nurse for Advocates for Independent Living where he took care of people with disabilities. Arnie later went to work for Hospice where he dedicated the majority of his career to helping people and their families with end of life care. After leaving Hospice he spent the last of his working years at Sutter Home Health. Arnie was a friend to everyone that he met. People instantly felt comfortable around him making him amazing at helping people. Arnie loved music and was a lifelong Beatles fan. He was a devout Giants and 49er fan. He had a passion for Corvettes and always looked good driving one. Later in life he started to get into woodworking and enjoyed making toy boxes for his grandchildren and handcrafting guitars for family and friends. Arnie loved attending his children and grandchildren's events and was often the proudest fan. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Patricia, brother Danny Pomeroy, sister Sueanne Ashmore, brother Joseph Felker, and many other family members. He is survived by many loving relatives and friends.

Rest in piece big brother. I always knew that you and brother Pat loved and looked out for your two baby sisters, Karla and I. Thank you and Pat for taking us in when we needed unconditional love and a sense of belonging. Whenever I hear a Beetles song I will always think of you. You truly are a laid back gentle kind of soul who loves his family more than life itself. Denise, my sweet beautiful nieces and the babies, my thoughts and prayers are with you. I love you all.

I´m just never going to get over this. Arnie was the brother I never had. We hit it off the moment we met when we were little boys. We shared a mutual love of the 49ers, Giants and music especially Beatles music. One of my fondest memories with Arnie was when we played Beatles Trivial Pursuit for 5 straight hours. My condolences to Denise, the girls, and the rest of his family. I will miss his sense of humor among many of his other attributes. Rest In Peace cousin. Until we meet again.

Arnie was one of the most caring people I know. I´ll never forget the time he saved my son´s life. We were at a horse show in Willits and Jon was choking on a piece of candy. Arnie leapt into action and gave a good hymlic and popped that candy out. I´ll never forget that. He will be very missed

Most of my memories of Arnie are from childhood. San Diego Zoo and an Elephant, Disneyland and his pigeons. Some funny (and inappropriate) stories. Then, because we lived at opposite ends of the state, there was a gap. After about 20 years my dad, Pat, took our family up north for Arnie and Denise's wedding, where I was quickly reminded of the nickname he gave me. That gap was quickly filled with family. My family went from small to large, with so many cousins and aunts and uncles, yet it seemed we never skipped a beat.

It was then that, I was reminded of the history between my parents and Arnie, and the talent for making up names. When my mom met my dad and Uncle Arnie he told my mom that my dad's name was Patrick Aloysius Grubstick Murphy Pomeroy. Fast forward to when my son, Gunner Patrick Aloysius Pomeroy-Krier, was about a year old and Arnie looks at me and says "we have a little Grubstick." He always did make people laugh.

Now there is another gap. But I thank god for this gap because it is filled with memories, his voice, laugh and so much family. I love you Uncle Arnie! Love, Cheatycakes.
