Eileen McBride Obituary

Eileen McBride passed away suddenly from heart failure on July 28, 2008 at her home in Nice, Calif. She was born on Aug. 6, 1939 in Portland, Ore. She was the firstborn child of Edwin Thomas McBride and Elinor Erna Haan McBride. They moved to Los Angeles in 1949.
Eileen graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1957. She was on the Honor Society, Drill Team, and belonged to the Future Nurses Club. She continued her education at General Hospital School of Nursing in Los Angeles (now called County General USC) as a Registered Nurse.
Through the years she worked at General Hospital, Hollywood Presbyterian and San Gabriel Community Hospital, all in Southern California. She moved to Nice in 1979 and worked at Lakeside Community Hospital (now called Sutter Lakeside Hospital) for the next 25 years until her retirement in 2004. She then became a volunteer at the hospital. She touched many lives during her long nursing career.
Eileen loved line-dancing in the Senior Center group led by Sherry Koch at the Lakeport Senior Activity Center and the Lucerne Senior Center. She enjoyed the friendship of the other dancers in the group.
She loved traveling, visiting family and friends, and all things in nature. She was an avid reader. She was generous and loving to her family and friends and rarely asked anything from anyone. She will be greatly and forever missed by all who loved her.
Eileen is survived by her son, Jonathan Robert Cronan of San Jose; mother, Elinor Erna Haan McGrath of Nice; sisters, Deborah Allen of Lakeport, Virginia Gehre of Fillmore, Utah, and Janet Francisco of Parker, Colo.; uncle, Donald Haan of Lake Oswego, Ore.; and Vivian Vanelli of Portland, Ore.; also many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008 at Jones Mortuary, 115 S. Main St. in Lakeport. A reception will follow the funeral at the Lakeport Senior Activity Center from 2 to 4 p.m.
Any donations to the Lakeport Senior Activity Center in Eileen's name would be greatly appreciated.
Arrangements entrusted to Jones Mortuary.
