Jeannie Neilson Obituary

Jeannie Green Neilson passed away in Klamath Falls, Oregon on September 29, 2008 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Born September 11, 1945 in Lakeport, California, she was a descendant of various prominent families of Lake County. Jeannie was raised with her sister, Judy, on the Green Ranch by her mother and father, Ernestine and Gessner Green. In a rural world of horses and ranch life, Jeannie was the epitome of city class. Her demeanor was expressed through her strength and honesty.
Her battle with Alzheimer's began early in her life. She struggled and fought it as best she could. In her final year, her niece, Debbie Dennis, took her into her home and along with Debbie's husband, Kevin, gave her loving care during her final days.
Jeannie will be remembered for her beautifully decorated home. Her love of her dogs. Decorating exquisite and immaculate Christmas trees. Her inner and outer beauty. Her sense to wear her jewelry, when most people keep it in a safe deposit box. She loved to laugh and gave soft kisses and hugs to the people she loved. Her family was able to be at her side in her final days.
Jeannie is survived by her husband, Bob Neilson. Her two loving children, Natalie West and Michael Neilson. She leaves three grandchildren, Megan, Madison and Nick and her sister Judy. She also leaves Ron West, Kim Neilson and her daughter Alexis plus numerous close relatives and friends.
There will be a memorial in Jeannie's honor at 2 pm Sunday, October 19, 2008 at Hartley Cemetery, 2552 Hill Road, Lakeport. The memorial to Jeannie will be followed by a gathering of her family and friends at The Green Ranch, 1604 Riggs Road, Lakeport, California.

I moved away from Lakeport in 1960 but have fond memories of growing up there and among the many memories I have are the times I spent being Jeannie's square dance partner in elementary school and visits to the ranch to swim in the creek and parties she had at her house.

The memory of Jeannie's sweet smile and gentle nature will not be forgotten.

I wish to send my most sencere condolences to Jeannies family.
I grew up in Lakeport going through school with Jeannie and her sister Judy.
I spent some wonderful times on the Ranch riding the horses and swiming in Scotts Creek near their home. I was fond of "Buck" Jeannies gentle old buckskin horse.
Even though I was a classmate of Judys and was Judys guest when visiting the ranch, I always loved to spend time with Jeannie. She was so sweet and friendly. We sure had alot of good times.
Jeannie and I both ended up in Ukiah raising our families. I wish we could have spent time togeather. I know she would have been a wonderful friend.
It is sad that she is gone, but she is at peace in the arms of angels. I will keep hold of our wonderful childhood memories.

So sorry to hear of Jeannie's passing. I have so many fond memories. One is the week-end I spent at the Green Ranch as Jeannie's guest. We rode Buck double bareback through the hop orchards; I was introduced to French Toast via Mom Ernie's wonderful cooking; witnessed compassionate Ernie giving a beloved dog daily treatments for polio; visited with beautiful sister Judy (whose new quarter horse Shiny Pants was being trained) and fun Dad "Greeno", and generally had a wonderful time! So many of my memories of Jeannie are with the Jr. Horsemen- the many moonlight and three-day rides,as well as the drill team! She was a beautiful, fun, classy gal and we are all diminished by her loss.
