Obie Knight

Obie Knight of Truth or Consequences and Socorro, New Mexico, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, April 19, 2016, just short of his eighty-first birthday. He is now reunited with those that preceded him in death: his mother, Helen Dansby; father, Grady Knight; brother, Wayne Knight; sister, Sheila Wheeler; and two of his children, son, Jimmy Knight, and daughter, Linda Jones. Obie is survived by his sisters, Barbara Ann Rector and Rayna Hobby; and his brother, Danny Knight. He leaves behind a family legacy in his son, John Jones, and wife, Gayle; son, Richard Knight; daughter, Debbie Nutt, and husband, Donald; son, Larry Knight, and wife, Sheri; daughter, Cheri Gracey, and husband, Gregg; and daughter, Lori Moore, and husband, Tom. Obie also leaves behind 27 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren. He is survived by even more family and friends too numerous to list, but none forgotten. Obie worked 12 years at New Mexico Tech in Socorro then retired. Prior to that Obie lived and worked in Ridgecrest, California, for over 40 years. He was a hardworking man who put his whole heart into everything he did. His strong values and moral integrity have touched many, and will continue to improve this world through the multitude of friends and family who have been changed for the better by knowing him. In keeping with the kind of person Obie was, instead of sending flowers, we ask that you perform an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for someone in his name.
