Oscar Dominguez Jr.

On April 13th in 2020 during the early morning, Oscar Dominguez Jr. unexpectedly passed away in his home at the age of 55. He was born on April 15th, 1965, in El Paso, Texas, to Oscar Sr. and Virginia Dominguez
Oscar grew up alongside his five sisters and one brother in El Paso. After graduating high school there, Oscar enlisted in the Marine Corps and served for 6 years. He went on to earn a degree in biology from Sul Ross in Alpine, Texas. Later he was introduced to his sister's roommate,
Karen Fauss. They got married in 1996 and had three sons. He then moved his family to California in 2002 where he lived for his remaining years.
He was a man of God, husband, father, teacher, and friend to many. He taught biology at the college and high school levels in Mexico, Texas, and California. He was an avid guitar player and loved playing all sorts of music. Oscar had a passion for teaching whether it was biology, music, or life lessons. He loved to be in the outdoors hiking, fishing, camping, hunting, and ranching. His last 18 years were spent at Clear Lake High School, teaching high school biology and encouraging students to follow their dreams, despite their upbringings. Students would come into his classroom to hold a snake, learn to play guitar or just feel listened to. He was loved by many staff and students at CLHS.
He is survived by his father and step mother, Oscar Dominguez, Sr. and Martha Dominguez; mother, Virginia Altamirano; siblings, Lourdes, Tere, Gabriel, Ana, and Martha; sons, Rio, Solano, and Sereno; and numerous extended family members.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Oscar on April 15, 2021, at 4 p.m. at Clear Lake High School. This will be an outdoor, socially distanced, mask-wearing, sober event. All are welcome!
