Ruth Bennett Obituary

Ruthie was born January 22, 1944 in Brattleboro, Vermont. She passed away unexpectedly February 2, 2011 in Santa Rosa.
Ruthie spent her childhood on her mother's ranch in the highlands of Kelseyville. She was one of five children of Ida Mae Bennett. She had four brothers, Mel, Bill, Danny, and Mark. She left the mountaintop at age 16 to be married and start a family. She raised three sons, Gary, Rod, and James. She also had an extended family when she married Bernie Cesario and the children from that marriage are Johnny, Bernie, Cindy, Joe, Frank, and Charlotte.
She opened the Buckhorn Club in 1999 and has been blessed by many friends that she made while running the business. She often said that what kept her getting up every day to run the business were the people that came to visit everyday. She liked them all very much.
Ruth is survived by her sons, Gary and Rod; granddaughter, Katelyn; long time boyfriend, Lenny Sodor (and her dog, Little Dude.)
Preceded in death by her son, James.
Ruthie was very well loved by all and will be dearly missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, February 13 at Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary, 1625 N. High St., Lakeport.

Ruth was a one of a kind woman. She was hard nosed and argumentative, with a TOTAL heart of gold! She took very good care of all of us "Bar Flies" with her generosity. She was there for me when no one else was with her no nonsense advise. She will be missed by many. She's probably giving GOD advice!

Happier Days

February 11, 2011

It was hard to hear of Ruthie's death. She was a good woman who often took care of others. Ruth cooked for her customers and friends. She never wanted anyone to go hungry. Although we moved to Idaho, we always looked forward to seeing Ruthie on our visits back to Lakeport. We will miss her on our next trip. Peace to Lenny. Love Steve and Sue

I was a grammar and high school classmate with Ruthie. I'm glad we got to reconnect at a class reunion several years ago and had time to discuss the school years and growing up.
RIP Ruthie....

My condolences to Ruth's family...I remember Ruth as a very sweet and pretty sixteen year old girl; my five year old brother's first love. My cousin Gaylord was her first husband. I am saddened that she was taken so early.
