Grandma,
Thanks to Maria Gallo, your family got a copy of the speech that you gave when you retired from Pratt and Whitney, and there is a poem that you wrote that I would love to share with those that love you.
"Give me a mind that does not bound, that does not whimper, whine, or sigh, don't let me worry over much about the fussy thing called I. Give me a sense of humor, Lord. Give me the grace to see a joke, to get some happiness from life, and pass it on to other folk!"
I think this shows your spirit and success.
I love you. I miss you. The stock market is falling without you.
Love Always,
Heidi Anne Hopkins

A donation has been made to the Conventry Public Library (in Conventry, Connecticut) in the name of Agnes Wiegand by her good friend, Betty Curtiss. There is a plaque in the library's atrium with Agnes' name on it.

I will always cherish the memories of Thanksgivings and Christmas mornings in your home and the family gatherings on those days. I'm sorry that we drifted apart after my mom died and would be keen to hear how my cousins are doing if you see this message.

My mom and Agnes were best friends, first in Southington,CT and then in Winter Haven, FL. I remember them buying matching shoes, dresses and purses -- and just loving each other's company, looking for all the world like sisters and sharing that same closeness. I remember that wonderful rich laugh of hers! When I would visit my parents in Florida, she always made sure that I came and spent time with her and I treasured those visits. A special woman. I hold many special memories.

I am saddened by the passing of Agnes Wiegand, mother of my late and beloved sister-in-law, Joan Cooley Finegold. I will always remember that Agnes and Ed were kind and generous to me and to my parents, Ann and Martin Finegold. We shared some wonderful times in Connecticut, New York, and
Florida. I extend my sincere condolences to my brother, Milton Finegold, her devoted son-in-law, and to his children, my nephews David and Andrew Finegold, and my niece, Emily Finegold Bouchard, Agnes's grandchildren, and to all of Agnes's friends and family.
With sympathy and love,

Grandma,
I have always drawn from your strenth, determination, warm heart and loving smile -- these will forever remain in my heart. I cherish the memories of holidays in Connecticut and times with my cousins and aunts and uncles -- always surrounded by the pies and delicious smells from your kitchen. When I think of you, I hear your belly laugh in my ears and feel a warmth in my heart.
May you rest in peace.
Love, your granddaughter,
Emily

Grandma
I want to thank you for everything that you have done for me. You have given me more than you will ever know. Your strength and wisdom meant so much to me. As I look back on everything that we have been through over the last 30 years, all the good and the bad, it all means so much to me because I went through it with you. Give Grandpa a kiss for me, I know you will be together again. I love you. I miss you.
You once wrote:
"God might have used his Sunset Gold...so sparingly. He might have doled his blossoms out...quite grudgingly. He might have put one wee star in all the sky. But since he gave so lavishly, why should not I?"
This describes your spirit, and I hope no one ever forgets this.
Love always and forever,
Heidi Anne Hopkins

Ms. Agnes, you were a gracious and generous woman. It was a pleasure to be able to assist you in your final years. I will miss my visits with you. In your belongings I found a hand-written good-bye which I will share with your son and step-daughter. I have kept it for 3 1/2 years. "God be with you"
