And now it's nine. So much has changed and yet everything is still the same. I keep trying to remember exactly when I fell in love with you, but all I can think of is it's been forever. I still look for those clues and smile when I see one. I hope you're right. Please be at peace. I will love you for always and forever. Carol

Six years. I got the message, double infinity. It took a while, only when they announced their wedding date, August 8 (double infinity) did I get it. You had to work for that one. A lot has changed but I'm pretty sure you like it here. I'm trying to get answers I have to know.
I will love you for always and forever.

FOUR YEARS TODAY
If I could have only one dream come true, I'd want to spend the rest of my life with you. If I could have only one voice to hear, one smile to see, one hand to hold, I'd want yours. I wanted to be the one who treated your heart as gently and lovingly as you treated mine. I wanted to be everything you are to me, because the best things in my life came from having you to love.
I will love you for always and forever.

My Dearest Al,
It's a year today. I cry still, probably always will.
I miss everything about you, your smile, your touch, your forever talking, our private dances in the kitchen. I knew life would go on, but never envisioned it being so lonely without you.
As I look back I see how you spent our twenty years together preparing me for this. you always knew in the end I would be alone and you painstakingly taught me everything I would need to make it on my own. You were a good teacher, Al, your were a great teacher.
I never believed before, but now I want to believe that there is a life afterwards and you are there watching over me.
So many times I told you I would always be grateful to you and I am. I am a better person because of you. You are the man who made me a lady.
If you are there, you know I talk to you everyday and everywhere. I take you on my walks and we continue to solve all the problems of the world.
I am no longer afraid to die. You will be the one to come and take me on my final journey and then we'll always be together.
I hope you are at peace, my love. I hope you are happy. I am here always thinking of you so don't feel lonely or afraid.
I love you with every ounce of breath in me.
I am yours "FOR ALWAYS AND EVER."

My first memories of Al are his visits to Washington, D.C. from time to time. He introduced me to the extended Lindia family.

Highlights in Rhode Island are:
(1) The time he came over and tiled our laundry room floor in Papa's bathroom. A beautiful job.
(2) His and Carol's immediate response to John's call when I unexpectedly had to have open heart surgery. They provided transportation and more importantly support to us both.
(3) The family reunion at their beach house - because of their donations of extra foods to the Jonny Cake Center, I am now volunteering my services there.
(4) The times when John wasn't feeling well, Al came over to visit and each time, I saw the color come back in John's face and he got his energy back.
(5) The greatest impression is that in all the years John and I have been together, I never heard John say anything negative about Al. He put his full trust in Al in any business or personal matters and never felt he had to check up on him.

The love shown him from his family is a true testimony of the relationship he had with his parents and brothers and sister.
I am grateful that Al came into my life.

Dear Lindia Family:

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I saw a little article in the paper about your Dad's passing. My thoughts go back to when my sister Laurie passed away and how close she became to your Mom & Stephen. Paul, you were one of my good friends in high school and we had many good times. Even though I haven't seen you all in ages, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. You all have each other, your families and your great memories that will be cherished forever.

There is nothing like family!

God Bless you, Paul, Stephen & Diane.

Thinking of you, Joann (Zapor) Sawyer and family.

I first met Al as my professor at CCSU. Then he married one of my co-workers. A brilliant man filled with so much love for his wife and family. It was so wonderful to go out after a program at school knowing that we would be exchanging stories with a wonderful husband and wife named Al and Carol. He will be greatly missed, but his legacy shall live on. I will always remember him by looking at the golf display case that he made for me out of wood in my office.

I have been blessed to have such a a wonderful father - to serve as a role model, a friend and a mentor. I will cherish the memories as a child and the journey into adulthood. You always taught us to put family first and to do our best at all times. You were always there for everyone, with no desire to get the glory. And you loved your grandchildren. When you were with them, they got your undivided attention. They'll always remember drawing with you, talking about UCONN and Duke basketball and the special "care packages" you and Carol put together for them.

I will miss you but know that I will see you again and you are in an awesome place!

The definition of “goodbye” is “the act of parting.” I refuse to ever bid my farewell to my grandfather, because from him I have not parted. He is, and always will be everywhere I go, for a memory can bring anything to life. So, cheers to Al with his life well lived and his soul still thriving. My heart is infinitely filled with his love, as it is love that lasts forever. And grandpa, “I love you infinity.”

Fairwell to a man who loved life and who life loved. He cherished my sister not only as his wife but as his best friend for many years. He touched all our lives in so many ways. A little proverb at one time or another would always get me thinking and lift my spirits no matter how down and out I was. He was a man who could and would conquer anything and at the same time would teach my sister anything is possible--He taught her well.
Ron and I will miss you dearly Al, be at peace your pain and suffering is over. Our condolences to all the family.
love,
Ron & Anita Dievert

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

I want to thank everyone for sharing their thoughts for my Dad. My Dad was very, very special to me. He will be greatly missed. His support, and love for me in the past will help me in the future. I loved my Dad very, very much. I will love him for always.
I also want to thank Carol for all her love, support, and care for Dad during a time which was very difficult for both Dad, and Carol. I will never be able to express how deeply I appreciated her care for Dad. Even though I would have liked to be live closer to Dad, I always knew that he found the most comfort just hanging out at home alone with Carol. I know that God will bless Carol as time goes on. Love Diane

It was an honor and privilege to have shared the last 21 years of my life with Al. He was not just my stepfather, but a real father, and someone I am proud to call ‘friend’. He was there for every important moment in my life and I will carry in my heart forever the many memories of the times we shared.

Al truly was a renaissance man; brilliant, artistic, creative and a progressive thinker. I learned much from our many talks over a cup of coffee.

I thank him from the bottom of my heart for the true love he gave to my mother, a love most of us spend our entire lives searching for. I thank him for the love, kindness and generosity he has shown me and my immediate family, especially my daughter, who has been deeply enriched by her relationship with her grandfather, and who I know will bear and pass on the many experiences and traditions he has imparted on her throughout her life.

He will be profoundly missed and always loved. Taken much too soon… it’s true… it’s always the good who die young. My heart goes out to his entire family. Love to you all.
