Carol and family,

I am so sorry to hear about your Dad's passing, he was a kind, loving neighbor and an asset to our neighborhood. I will miss him waving to us with his grand warm smile whenever he saw us drive by. May he now be with the love of his life. RIP Mr. Carretta

I have the greatest memories of Augie and Vi, having grown up three doors down on Pequot Rd. They were another set of parents, as that’s how it was back then. My deepest sympathies to Carol and Mary, my neighborhood sisters. Aside from remembering just how kind he was, I still think of him when I make tuna salad because he showed me a “trick” when I was very young and all the neighborhood moms got together to play cards. I don’t remember why he was at my house that night - probably because my mom was hosting “the girls” and the men were having a few pops in the other room. It's amazing what sticks in our heads, but I really do think of that every time I make a tuna sandwich.
God’s Speed, Augie.

I worked with Augie at Allegheny when I was hired in 1969. As a new hire, Augie was one of my mentors in the Maintenance Dept. Augie kept in touch with me with a phone call every once in a while. He was a very good friend and co-worker.

Sending condolences to Augie’s family. In the few years we knew him, he was a great neighbor and always spoke highly of his family. The stories he told kept us talking in his back yard for hours. We will hold onto our memories and the impact he had on us.
