Betty J. Stalter, 68, of Southington, beloved wife of Donald Schollin, passed away in her sleep on Wednesday, October 13, 2021. Betty was born on October 23, 1952 in Hackensack, NJ and was the daughter of the late Elwood Sr. and Helen (Romano) Stalter. After graduating high school, Betty obtained a nursing degree at the University of Rhode Island. Over the years she worked at the VNA, throughout Southington schools, and most recently as the nurse for Flanders Elementary School. Betty was a member for over 32 years of the Middlesex Yacht Club, she was a member of the Greater Hartford Quilt Guild, and her neighborhood book club. In her leisure time, Betty could be found quilting and sewing, and on occasion, going on sewing retreats with friends. She was also an avid reader and loved to bird watch. However, it was spending time with her family that truly made her happy. Whether it was the yearly trips to Raymond, Maine, or just being all together at home, family is what really defined Betty. Besides her best friend and husband, Donald, she is survived by her children, her son Brian Schollin and his wife Elyse of New York, and by her daughter Jennifer Schollin of New Jersey. She is also survived by her brother, Elwood "Chip" Stalter, Jr. and his wife Carol of Westwood, NJ and by her sister, Beverly Benson of Pitman, NJ and by several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her three grand dogs who will miss her dearly. Calling hours will be on Sunday, October 17, 2021 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 North Main St., Southington, CT 06489. I am saddened to hear of the loss of one of my former neighbors. I remembered Mrs. Schollin being warm and friendly. She expressed such pride in her children, Brian and Jen and their accomplishments. I will be praying for her soul and for the family.
