She worked as a nurse's aide for Masonicare (Masonic Home and Hospital) in Wallingford, CT, for many years before working and retiring from the State Veterans Hospital in Rocky Hill, CT. Her passion and devotion for caring for patients in her employment was even stronger for her family and friends. She was an incredibly thoughtful person who took pride in finding and making special gifts to share on holidays and "just thinking of you", days. Carolyn was a dedicated member of Christ the King church in Sebastian, FL, where she was a choir member and also would lovingly visit members of the church at their homes to give them communion. She loved to paint pictures, was also very skilled in knitting and sewing all of her life. While in Florida she would sew blankets for children in need for her church and also was an avid volunteer at the soup kitchen in Fellsmere, FL.

Before moving to Sebastian she was a member for many years at St John's Lutheran Church in Meriden, CT.

She had so much love for her family and friends near and far but most of all for the love of her life Kenney who she met and dated in high school, they were blessed to be married for 25 years before Kenneth's passing in 2013.

She was pre-deceased by her son Keith Brechlin.
