Darlene and I met a Quinnipica University in 1977. We became good friends. Shares many laughs together. Our parents became friends too. She worked part time for Wendy´s and always talked about meeting her boss Randy. I finally agreed to meet him and we set up the meeting at Angelo´s Pizza in North Haven. Four years later we were married. Dar participated in our wedding. I loved her quirky sense of humor and she never failed to make me laugh. She would come over to our house to visit and my cat Bingy would go crazy over her and sit on her lap. Cats always knew what a wonderful person she was and gravitated to her energy. Life took us on different paths and we kept in touch thru the years. I will always love and be grateful to her for introducing me to my future husband Randy McKitrick. To know her is to love her. To love her is to miss her and be happy that she is now Home where she is happy and at peace. She had the ability to make lasting friends wherever she went. Our memories with each other will last forever. I am grateful to call her friend. Dar you were always enough!

I met Darlene when I
started at Quinnipiac College (now known as Quinnipiac University) in September, 1977. We both sang in the soprano section of the QC Chorale. I remember all the fun times we had in class, during our Christmas concerts at various retirement homes and especially in the Student Union at school.

She also sang for me when I was installed as Chairperson of one of my clubs and she was one of my bridesmaids at my wedding. I remember making all of the dresses and when she tried hers on she said "Uh, Lis. I think we need a bit of an adjustment here." I made her dress too big! We laughed while I made the adjustments with my pins.

I'm going to miss that woman!

Darlene came over to my house during our teenage years for a sleepover. We had the family room in our basement to ourselves. Record player, black & white TV, bumper pool, our own fridge with drinks and snacks. What more could a teenager want? We slept on the shag rug (hey, it was the 70's) in sleeping bags. My Siamese cat Mort had full reign of the house - including the cellar. In the middle of the night, I heard Darlene say, "Cher?" I said, "yeah?" She said "why is your cat staring at me?" You see, she got this feeling that someone (or some THING) was watching her. She had opened her eyes to see Mort inches from her face. His crossed-eyes just staring. He was purring... loudly. I explained that he wanted to crawl into her warm sleeping bag. Darlene was not a cat person so I called Mort over and he crawled into my bag. From that night forward, Darlene and I would laugh about it. We would send pictures to each other of a cross-eyed Siamese cat. Forever, I will remember fondly my dear friend Darlene whenever I see a picture of a Siamese cat.
