David Carrero Obituary
Mr. Carrero was born Jan. 4, 1964, in Bronx, N.Y., one of 13 children of Ramona (Cordero) Carrero and the late Pedro Carrero. He was a 1982 graduate of O.H. Platt High School. He worked for the Meriden Housing Authority for over seven years and was the president of Council for AFSCME. He was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church. Dave was an active member of the Meriden Amateur Softball Association (MASA) serving in many levels as coach, umpire and player. He coach basketball for many years at the Boys & Girls Club of Meriden and was an avid sports fan, and his favorite team included the Dallas Cowboys, the New York Knicks and the Yankees. He loved family gatherings.
David will always be remembered as a loving and caring son, a beloved brother, a devoted father, grandfather, uncle and friend. His laughter was contagious and He will be greatly missed.
Beside his loving mother of Rincon, Puerto Rico, he is survived by his two daughters, Jennifer Carrero of Meriden and Bianca Carrero of West Hartford; a granddaughter ,Jaeliese Inasia Jordan of Meriden; the mother of his daughters, Milagros Lopez; four brothers, Jesus "Jay" Carrero and his wife, China of Long Island, N.Y., Pedro "Pete" Carrero and his wife, Lillian of Meriden, Efrain "Eddie" Carrero and his wife, Lucy of Bronx, N.Y., and Benjamin Carrero and his wife, Janete of Meriden; eight sisters, Ramonita "Tata" Baez and her husband, Angel, Evelyn Carrero, and Dolores Rivera-Carrero and her husband, Antonio all of Meriden, Julia Zirlen and her husband, Jeff of North Haven, Margie Ortega and her husband, Johnny of Bronx, N.Y., Nancy Napolitano, and Jennie Cruceta and her husband, Quilvio, all of Long Island, N.Y., and Blanca Pierce and her husband, Gene of Upstate, N.Y.; he is also survived by several aunts and uncles, and many nieces, nephews, including his godson, Benny Carrero; great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends, among them, his special friends, Phil Crosby, Edwin Rios. He leaves his dog Scooby. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Sonny Napolitano.
Funeral Mass will be held Monday, Oct. 20 at 11 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 35 Center St., in Meriden. Friends and family are asked to gather at the church. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 48 Cook Ave., Meriden. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bianca Carrero Scholarship Fund, c/o Achieve Financial Credit Union, 1064 E. Main St., Meriden, CT. 06450.

Hi tio its nina again its been a while since i wrote you but guess what i graduated high school and i did it all on my own i mean of course the road was bumpy but i never gave up like you taught me. I miss you so much wish you were here to see me in my cap and gown but i know your looking down at me. I could hear your laugh now and hear you say i knew you could do it. I met someone too you would have loved him hes alot like you. Every8at homemis doing alright they miss you but i miss you the most. Ive had such a rough few years and as much as i want to give up i think of you and know you would want me to fight and never give up. I pray every night in hopes you hear me. 9mths have gone by and it seems as tho yesterday was the day you left us. My heart is still filled with pain. As I look at Jaeliese getting older I see you in her eyes. I remember the day you came to the hospital the day you watched her and danced with her. It hurts more and more although I know your in a better place no longer suffering no longer hurting I still wish you were still here to hold me to hold Jaeliese. As I lay down at night I look at your picture and I cry. Nothing is the same everyone has fallen apart. You were the glue that stuck this family together and now that your gone everything have fallen apart. How I miss hearing you call me baby cakes or calling me early in the morning to say what a Beautiful day it is. Everytime I bring nena to see grandma she always says how much she looks like you, even tho I cant see you physically I see you everyday in her the older she gets the way she smiles it reminds me of you. Everyone says time heals all wounds, but as the time progresses it only gets worse. Everytime I drive by your house I wanna go visit. Deep down inside Im reminded that your not there. As I read our text messages I cry because I miss you so much. I remember your face as you held Jaeliese, to see how proud you were it was as tho you were holding your child. Recently hearing the news saddens me!! To loose a friend is heart-breaking even more so around the holidays. I believe I saw you just days before…..I was on the go…rushing here and there!! I was a co-worker of Dave’s at the MHA. He always had a kind word and a smile for everyone, and I will really miss him coming into my office with a cheery “Hey, how you doin’!?” We can’t always understand why someone passes on unexpectedly, but we can always hold on to what they meant to us and let who they were live on within us every day. I pray that God looks over and provides comfort to his family and friends during this time, and provides David with everlasting peace.

I've known the family since childhood, church, school, hubbard park and the softball games. Dave always had to show off his skills as who could do the best cannonball with his brothers and friends. Dave being competitive in basketball and softball as well!
